Step into a geisha’s private world and peek behind her mask. Get to know her genuinely and reveal her real beauty on camera. We coach you and provide creative input to make the most of this unique photo shoot.

We will meet a real-life geisha before and after she puts on her make-up. You will have time to converse with her and ask her all the questions you want. Once you better understand who she is, we will proceed to the photo shoot, ready to create authentic photographs. We have chosen two distinct and iconic locations.

First, we shoot at a beautiful yet secluded sub-temple in Kyoto’s Tofukuji compound. We will set our geisha amidst traditional elements in the backdrop such as a rock and moss garden, paper windows, and bamboo fixtures. We help make sure your camera settings are optimal to achieve the best portraits. We focus on making the most of ambient and artificial light.

After she has donned her mask, we reconvene at sunset for a second photo shoot. This time in the picturesque back streets of Kyoto around her living quarters. Out of sight of the prying eyes of passersby, you direct your geisha in her full splendor as she walks the streets and poses for you in her regalia.
