By day, the city’s markets, shopfronts, and waterfront hum with life, offering a kaleidoscope of human stories set against vivid backdrops. This workshop captures the essence of Hong Kong’s daytime allure, blending nostalgia with the dynamic pulse of modern urban life.

What We’ll Shoot

We’ll focus on street photography that harnesses the power of natural daylight with all its contrast and color. You’ll learn to use Hong Kong’s vibrant palette—bright shop signs, colorful market stalls, and reflective surfaces—to create striking compositions. Putting these skills together we will also train our timing for capturing decisive moments, from bold urban scenes to fleeting human interactions that evoke a cinematic, nostalgic mood.

Where We’ll Explore

We kick off in Kowloon, in the gritty district of Jordan. Here, the remnants of the district’s past come alive in vibrant yellows, greens, and blues—street vendors set up their stalls and old shops remind us of the city’s complex heritage. The chaotic charm of this older neighborhood, with its weathered shopfronts and bustling crowds, pulses against the distant sheen of modern high-rises. As we move toward Tsim Sha Tsui’s commercial core, the scene shifts to sleek storefronts and polished facades, where luxury boutiques and crowded sidewalks reflect Hong Kong’s cosmopolitan edge. If time allows, we can add one last stop to visit Central and catch the skyscrapers drenched in sunlight reflecting street mirages.
