What’s the Story?
Though London has a long history, the city’s most iconic and interesting buildings were built within the last few decades. It is a city that is at the cutting edge of architectural innovation, with not only buildings but tunnels and walkways that could be transported into a sci-fi film. On this workshop we will be within touching distance of some of these awe-inspiring structures as we also look inside, outside, up and down some of the most photogenic hidden gems that London has to offer.
What We’ll Shoot
We will learn how to create images with minimalism and simplicity resulting in visual impact. We will hone our composition carefully arranging the elements of a scene to create balance in the photo. We will talk about concepts such as leading lines, symmetry, visual balance, and touch on technical points such as depth of field and focusing.
Where We’ll Explore
Our journey will begin in Canary Wharf, the old dock area which is now the financial center of London. We will then take a short walk to West India Quay to find one of London’s hidden gems, a brutalist building offering a great view of the city. From there we will walk to Poplar and then head to Bank and explore some of the futuristic architecture of the area. We will finish the workshop in an area where you can explore most of the iconic ultra-modern buildings of London located in very close proximity to each other.
