Urban Exploration

What’s the Story?

Though London has a long history, the city’s most iconic and interesting buildings were built within the last few decades. It is a city that is at the cutting edge of architectural innovation, with not only buildings but tunnels and walkways that could be transported into a sci-fi film. On this workshop we will be within touching distance of some of these awe-inspiring structures as we also look inside, outside, up and down some of the most photogenic hidden gems that London has to offer.

What We’ll Shoot

We will learn how to create images with minimalism and simplicity resulting in visual impact. We will hone our composition carefully arranging the elements of a scene to create balance in the photo. We will talk about concepts such as leading lines, symmetry, visual balance, and touch on technical points such as depth of field and focusing.

Where We’ll Explore

Our journey will begin in Canary Wharf, the old dock area which is now the financial center of London. We will then take a short walk to West India Quay to find one of London’s hidden gems, a brutalist building offering a great view of the city. From there we will walk to Poplar and then head to Bank and explore some of the futuristic architecture of the area. We will finish the workshop in an area where you can explore most of the iconic ultra-modern buildings of London located in very close proximity to each other.

Learned so much about architectural photography on the Tunnel Vision workshop with Adam, but all teaching was done in a friendly and relaxed manner. Got so many photos that I just would not have got without his guidance – highly recommend.

  2. MissyTam

Adam is passionate and he taught me all about symmetry and leading lines in composition, and he took me to lots of cool spots that I wouldn’t have discovered myself otherwise 🙂 If you have an afternoon and you want to take some photos of a nontypical London then this tour is right for you 🙂

  3. IceOoh

A cracking tour with Adam. Very relaxed and helpful. Showed me so e great spots I would never have known about and I learned a lot about the detail involved in architectural photography. Recommended!

We will meet at Canary Wharf Station Jubilee Line ticket gates (about a 3 minute walk from the DLR station exits). When you come out of the West exit ticket gates, walk past the entrance to the Canada Place Mall and you will see a barber shop called Adam on the right hand side of escalators leading out of the station. We meet here.
