EYExplore Tokyo Photo Tour & Workshop - Photographing the metro during photography workshop
Photographing the metro during photography workshop

What’s the Story?

Peering up in awe at monolithic steel and glass towers, one can’t help but feel small. Capture that feeling in your photographs, juxtaposing tiny human forms against cold and sterile structures. Contrast the artificial and man-made with the organic—hints of nature and human life surrounded by the Tokyo metropolis.

What We’ll Shoot

We will learn how to create compelling images of architectural elements and the people that populate the city’s concrete environs. You’ll be coached on using composition concepts like leading lines, negative space, and juxtaposition. We’ll practice using these techniques to convey a variety of narratives.

Where We’ll Explore

Our journey will begin in Shiodome—a district walled in with glass and steel skyscrapers. From here we will head to Ginza, famed for its broad avenues lined with intricate examples of avant-garde architecture. Afterward, we will end up in Yurakucho where we will explore the innards of the monolithic Tokyo International Forum.

Was picked up from my Hotel by Lukasz. Spent a fantastic few hours exploring some amazing locations. Lukasz is very friendly and helpful and great to spend time with. I got some excellent photos especially at Tokyo international forum building. We also did some street photography between locations. Looking down on Tokyo station and the Shinkansen arrivals was another highlight. If you have an interest in photography at any level I highly recommend this tour.

  2. Susan P

Lucasz made this experience fun and informative. Great architecture to photograph in an innovative and creative way and helped us to look at things differently from the camera lens ‘ eye .

  3. Rob

Just spent 4 days in Tokyo and was fortunate enough to do two tours with Eyexplore! I did the evening tour with Charles and the daytime street tour with Lukasz. Both of these guys were excellent. Both fun to be around, clearly passionate about showing me their city and making sure I was happy with my experience. I learned a lot from both of them and walked away with some amazing shots. The time flew by with both tours. These guys aren’t just going through the motions – they clearly love what they do.

  4. mbear60

Took this tour with Charles in mid-February and learned some great techniques, photo composition and perspectives. Highly recommended!

  5. Vrgunzel

Did the metropolis photography tour with Charles, fantastic tour, with Charles being very accomodating of my amateur photography skills. We went to areas that were quiet which was good as we wouldn’t get in the way of the crowds. He even took me to Akihabara afterwards and showed me a discount memory card shop. Talk about going above and beyond.

  6. harukij

Charles was extremely professional and knowledgeable about locations, camera settings, and compositions. He gave great tips on how to compose certain shots and is an extremely skilled photographer. I highly recommend this photography tour for those who wish to improve their composition skills and become familiar with some of Tokyo’s great locations.

  7. MimiMW326

I was lucky enough to be the only person on a ‘group tour’, so ended up having a private tour with Charles. He took me to some great places and taught me some cool ways of looking at the city differently to get some interesting shots. I did this on the first day of a 2 week trip in Japan so I could practice what I learned during the rest of the trio, which worked well for me. I Highly recommend this to anyone with an interest in photography!

  8. Ma Rionline

My husband and I took the Tokyo at Night tour with Lukasz back in 2016 and I’d finally like to take the time to give him the well deserved kudos and a 100% recommendation. First of all, he is a super friendly, accommodating and fun character and spending the evening with him was both, educating and entertaining for us. One of the highlights of our entire Japan trip. Not only were we able to immediately improve our photography skills thanks to Lukasz’s advice, but we also got to see parts of the city that we would probably not have discovered all by ourselves and got some valuable insights into Japanese culture and lifestyle. Lukasz is absolutely able and willing to customize this experience to his participants’ needs and skill level. So, if you want to geek out on photography he’s your man, but if you are looking for a more “vacation style” experience, he will deliver that as well. I seriously can’t think of any room for improvement .. will book another tour for sure, if we get the chance. Arigato gozaimashita!

  9. Abdullah

I have took Tokyo Metropolis group workshop and learned many things and gained a new perspective to photography with Mr. Charles help. His teaching style was great and he helped me with every step. Unfortunately I only had the chance to take one course, but the next visit to japan I’ll take more than one course.

  10. T6515RUandyp

Brilliant tour with Charles – he knows his technical stuff and the best spots for great photos , you will go where the tourists don’t go !!!!

  11. MargotAnn

Such a great couple of hours with Charles. Learnt so much about framing the picture, using my camera off the auto setting and then with the iPhone.

  12. Jbvoyage

I went for the Tokyo by night and the Tokyo Metropolis. Was great having both Charles and Lucasz as they have different styles and can teach you different things. Tours were great, just what I was looking for : the iconic picture you want to bring back, and off tracks picture of the life of a so different city. So the next day I booked the Temple tour and the Vertigo. Temple was nice and let me cover the 3 “basic” tours to see a big part of Tokyo, with some facts about Tokyo and its temples during the tour, and we changed the itinerary a few times to suit what we wanted to photograph. Vertigo was awesome. you go through this little alley, find a stair out of nowhere and end up with an overview of the highway entering Tokyo with all the lights and cars passing by. We tried a few different spots and all had a different and special flavor, changing the way you see the city when above it. I went to Tokyo mainly for a photo trip and could not having been happier about it : great tours and great photo guides.

  13. mun s

Definitely recommend people taking this workshop. Instructors were knowledgeable and took time to answer any questions you have with photography. Thoroughly enjoyed it1

  14. max286

Giornata molto divertente in compagnia di questi due fotografi. fanno vedere Tokyo con occhi diversi. tour consigliato se avete voglia di avventurarvi a scoprire segreti nascosti

  15. jsmith692

Great tour !! Charles was very patient with those of us with less knowledge of photography . Saw and photographed lots of great sites!!

  16. johncurry777

This photo walk/tour was perfect. He had great knowledge. He had done the work to find A+ shooting spots, took me right to them, talked me through it. He’s a pro, really knows what he’s doing. Great to work with, a nice guy. Plan to work with him again.

  17. bashar_saqr

I took two workshops with EYExplore. I was a bit intimidated at fist as I’m relatively new to photography. But from the registration to the workshops, the entire process was smooth. Even as an amateur photographer, I was treated as a professional and these workshops really helped elevate my skill-set. I learned a lot of new techniques and was shown around to some great street photography spots in Tokyo. Lukasz lead the workshops and he’s a true visual poet. Thank you guys for helping me kill my street photography game in Tokyo!

  18. NikaFoxley

I took the tour in December 2018 (sorry for the late review, just scrolling though my pictures). I loved every minute of it! Charles is really nice guide. He also gave us background informations about the places we shot and tips where else to get nice pictures. Thanks to him I understand my camera better now and got some really nice pictures. Highly recommend this.

  19. Ian123456781

This was our first photo tour with Charles and we all enjoyed it greatly, even though I was the only one in the family who was really into photography. We walked around the Ginza district and found lots of spots to take interesting and unusual photos. As usual with Eyexplore tours we learnt lots of new photo techniques.

  20. migot

Me and my friend took part in Tokyo Metropolis Photography Tour. We were the only two participants and our guide was Charles. We did a lot of photo spots in 2.5-3h, which was great. Charles as a guide was amazing, very open as a person and helpful and flexible as a teacher with a lot of photography knowledge. It’s a great way to see a bit of Tokyo from a bit different angle. Next time when I will be in Tokyo, I will definitely take part in another photo tour.

  21. 303lynnh

Went on this tour and found it really helpful. Got some great tips on how to take a more interesting photo. Good photo opportunities lots of reflective shots. Very knowledgeable guide.

  22. Matmos

    Both courses were absolutely superb.

  23. Shane

I did two photo tours with Lukas and Charles. Top notch and well worth the time and money. Not only did my photography improve but I got to see the city and meet some cool cats.

  24. NoneTheWiser

Charles looked after us really well. He was informative and helped us get the most from our cameras and took us to some great locations. Highly recommended.

  25. Stefano

I had three workshops with Charles and he was great. He gave me very useful tips to improve my framing and camera settings. I really enjoyed my time… Well done!

  26. FransB350

A great Tokyo photo tour with a lot of new camera feature experiences. Beautiful points of interest en professional guidance. Learnt a lot and would like to come back sometime 😉

  27. Vacation702218

It was my first time in Tokyo and, as it’s such a huge city, I opted to sign up for a couple of photo walks to make sure I didn’t miss the hidden photographic gems. I wasn’t disappointed! Small groups with a photographer guide, who not only knows his way around, but also can assist with camera settings for those who aren’t so experienced. Useful tours for both beginners and experienced photographers. I would certainly recommend, and will do again if I ever find myself back in Tokyo.

  28. thefury06460

Stefan took me on a 1/1 photo excursion all around yarakucho and shiodome. He was very knowledgeable and all around a good dude. Next time I go to Tokyo I want do another eyexplore photography session.

  29. Kevinmurp

I spent a week in Tokyo together with my son. He bought himself a camera on his first day and I then discovered this tour and booked it. Best decision of the holiday!!! Lucas was awesome. He taught my son quite a bit about his camera and us both a lot about composition and photography in general. He also took us around a range of interest sites and helped us to see (and take) the awesome photos that were there in front of us. We got great photos! While my son had bought a good camera, I had my iPhone and we both learnt a lot and both got great photos. Lucas is good company, as well as a good teacher. Thanks again Lucas!

  30. David_Saarland

Went on two courses with these guys, Metropolis and Tokyo Night. Had a great time, learnt some new tricks with my camera and most important, took some amazing photos. Thanks guys!

  31. Alberto

Nice talk, cool location and Charles is such a chill dude, thanks for the tips!

  32. Christian A

Ich habe zwei verschiedene Anbieter in Tōkyō genommen, und ich kann EYExplorer im direkten Vergleich nur extrem herausnehmen. Sowohl qualitativ als auch preislich…

  33. Cecilerh

My sister and I shared this fantastic outing. Had Lukas and Charles as trainers (a most pleasant and rewarding bonus) and were guided to spots and composition suggestions that were creative and offered a most professional feedback on the resulting product. Would highly recommend this opportunity. Unbeatable cost/benefit workshop.

  34. Elena M

If you have a couple of days in Tokyo I can highly recommend to book the “Tokyo by Night tour” at the beginning of your trip. I really got inspired and tried out the shots Stephane encouraged us to do later on, too. Stephane is very knowledgeable and he gave us useful tips. The tour was very inspiring and I made some great shots. I book their “Tokyo Metropolis Photography Tour” as well. Also highly recommendable!

  35. AlanWardinYork

I booked this tour at short notice when visiting Tokyo with my wife for a few days. Stefan led the course and was excellent, very good knowledge, clear instruction and very useful guidance. There were just three on our trip so plenty of 1 on 1 time with Stefan and we combined some night landscapeshots with street photography. I came away with some good shots and new skills. I suspect the other daytime courses would be good too but couldn’t fit another time into our schedule. Perhaps next time in Japan……..?

  36. Rhonda

I had a lovely day, it was eye-opening and fun, Lukasz was my instructor and so helpful with hints. I will do it again when/if I come back to Japan just another region. It’s a MUST do for photography lovers.

  37. David P

Learned a lot from stephane, it was only him and I so I got to learn quite a few things from him. Really informative tips on how to take the best photos and the best spots for shots in tokyo. The trails were fun but the street photography side of it added a more closer vision of tokyo. I will do this again! Thanks stephane!

  38. thetrystero

I went on the Metropolis photowalk with Lukasz in mid-February. As expected this time of the year, the weather was perfect. Even with the many activities vying for my attention during my very short trip to Tokyo, I had decided very early on that this was something I had to do while putting together my itinerary (call it a gut feeling). The photowalk with Lukasz only served to confirm my hunch and then some. Even though I had read many times about the different technicalities of the trade, Lukasz was able to deftly distill the concept of exposure in a manner that made everything click in an instant. What was more enlightening though was that Lukasz showed me a side of Tokyo I would never have seen on my own even if I had walked the same streets. Photography then became an almost inconsequential side effect, just a casual matter-of-fact way of jotting down notes along the way. It was effortless and engaging all at once. Above all, the walk was pure fun. I don’t think I’d had this much fun on any tour of any city I’d ever visited. Highly recommended.

  39. Mauro

Having been following the work of instructor Lukasz Palka for a while, I couldn’t miss the chance to learn from him on my trip to Tokyo. That is exactly what I did, enrolling, together with my travel partner and good friend Tiago, in the Tokyo Metropolis photo adventure of Eyexplore. Lukasz proved to be very friendly and, besides teaching the content of the adventure in an interactive and interesting way, he was also approachable to talk about various aspects of photography, thus fulfilling my curiosity as a student and a fan. No matter the level of the student, I think there is always something useful to learn from this “trip”. As I was traveling, I was also glad to be taken to places not so obvious for tourists, allowing me to see a bit more of Tokyo than I had anticipated. Overall, this was a 5 star experience to me.

  40. bcooper434

I took to tours with Lucasz and both of them were excellent. I did Tokyo by night and metropolis. These are instructional and Lucasz is a clear instructor. I came away with amazing images from each and this about good photography concepts not just about the shots. Everything ran very smoothly and the locations were very easy to find.

  41. mbr168

Photographer Lukas is very knowledgeable on how to capture the beauty of the Tokyo Metropolis. Learned a lot from his photo tour… in fact my friend and I joined his other Tokyo photo tour as well! And, I learned a lot from both!

  42. Isabelle C

This is such a fantastic tour to explore Tokyo and learn new photography skills. I especially liked how Lukas adapted to each participant’s level of skills. Most importantly, I guess, for a photography tour is that I definitely ended the tour with some pretty nifty shots!

  43. Carol D

If you are into photography and want to learn how to take great pictures by night than this is an absolute must. Guide Stephane showed us all the great spots in Shinjuku and Shibuya to take awesome pictures! All in very understandable language.

  44. Midouille

We took part as a family to the Metropolis experience, with a great photographer (Stéphane). Not only have we discovered great areas of Tokyo, which we would not have seen on our own, but more importantly, we could greatly benefit from Stéphane’s experience and expertise to learn new photo techniques during the tour. It was great as well that he also speaks French, as our kids’ english level is too low. I would highly recommend taking that or any of the other tours, it is money and time very well spent. We would happilly go to another one on our next visit.

  45. Martin

If you have the time, I’d highly recommend doing both!! Both photowalks were guided by Lukasz; who was a phenomenal guide to Tokyo and photography teacher. I borrowed my brother’s camera which I was not familiar with at all. By the end of the trip, I felt that not only did I walk away with amazing photos to show my friends and family, I learnt a new set of skills. The locations during the photowalk are very well thought out and each location offers something new. At the end of the second photowalk, I asked Lukasz if he could recommend a vintage/second-hand camera store. He was courteous enough to walk me to one and exchanged in some “camera talk” while strolling the store together. Overall: 5/5 Value: 5/5 Service: 5/5 That’s all folks!

  46. Christine H

I really enjoyed this early evening photographic adventure. Our guide Stephane took us to some very interesting locations and had brilliant ideas on different ways of shooting the city. I learnt some interesting techniques using escalators and reflections which I will be able to use in the future. I am an experienced amateur photographer and the tour was perfectly pitched to suit my level of ability and I would definitely recommend it.

  47. Narsico A

Diving through Ginza and Shimbashi looking for lines, patterns, and other interesting architecture to use in our images. The guide, Stephane, was very friendly and accommodating. He shared some ideas on composition and how to make your images stand out. It is a professionally managed tour. The guide will make sure you enjoy yourself and keep you safe during the walk. Good for all skill levels. Bring any camera, the guide will make sure you will be able to use it and make great memories.

  48. elelkay

I’m new to photography and so I was especially pleased to be the only student on this particular day. Luke was patient as he made basic terminology understandable, something that has been elusive until now. He was able to show me how to make great photographs in an urban setting using the reflection on buildings. I got some amazing photographs but even better was a skill I can use in the future! He also had some great knowledge about the architectural heritage of the area we toured.

  49. d_washington

No lie, this was the highlight of my trip. I loved the first one I did so much in Tokyo I booked them again in Osaka. If you love photography no matter your skill level or camera these guys will show the best spots in and around town that you would probably never go on your own. I got some amazing pics to show for it that will always remind me of my first (not last) trip to Japan. Thanks so much EYExplore, till next time.

  50. withouttheic

I took the Tokyo Metropolis tour this evening and was blown away. I have always treated my DSLR as more of a point&shoot, and Stefane, my guide, was so helpful in not only teaching me the basics of the camera but also how to put them into practice right away. He opened my eyes to so many different perspectives – not only within the context of taking great photos – but also with how I view every day street scenes. With all that said, I even managed to get some kickass shots. I couldn’t have asked for a better introduction to Tokyo, to Japan, and hopefully to a new class of photography. I could not recommend more.

  51. Fiona T

We joined the Tokyo Metropolis photography tour. Found out that me and my husband were the only participants of the tour. If it were held by some other organizers, the tour may have been cancelled due to the few number of participants, but EYExplore didn’t. It went ahead despite it was a pretty hot day, and we became the VIP of the day! Although me and my husband were frequent vistors of Tokyo, the tour did not disappoint. Lukasz was our guide and he took us into streets, alleys and spots that are less visited by tourists. It was great as it helped us see the other side of the beauty of this city. Lukasz also taught us how to shoot photos by observing the environment, using the proper light and reflective surfaces, and combining the nature and the concrete to create interesting images, which in turn enabled us to appreciate the somewhat structured city with a creative eye. We both also learnt a bit more about photography and the use of our cameras. If there is anything to improve, we would suggest that the tour could end near a bar so that we can all grab an ice cold beer. That will be a perfect finish.

  52. Peter A

I cannot recommend this tour high enough. Lukasz is a fantastic guide, he knows a lot of hidden spots in the city to take interesting photos, without being in the way for other pedestrians. I truly enjoyed my walk through Tokyo with him. I learned a lot about street photography, composition of images and he showed me a trick or two for my camera that comes in very handy. This is by no means a tour that requires expert knowledge, so anyone with an interest in photography should feel comfortable joining. No matter your skill level, you’ll learn a trick or two along the way. I personally appreciated the chats in between the photos, getting to know Lukasz, hearing his story and the fact that he really cares about his participants since it was July and it was very hot, I was the only participant for this tour and was afraid it would get cancelled, but he explained that he would never cancel just because of a single participant.

  53. gaurua80

Eyexplore’s Tokyo Metropolis tour takes you to some cool buildings in Tokyo and show you tricks to capture pretty decent images even you have zero knowledge of your camera. They also encouraged your creativity, revealed a little bit about mindset of a professional photographer, from which you can learn, discover a lot. A new way of exploring a new place. Very different from traditional approach with tour guide and lots of information, with Eyexplore, you can create your own creative discovery of japan through your lens. Highly recommended.

  54. Josiah E

2 very amateur photographers had a fantastic time walming the streets of Tokyo with Exel the guide. He was patient and explained things beautifully. If I ever come back I will do this again!

  55. Dianna V

Again not a five star but a real six star knock it out of the park tour. Lukasz Palkas’ small group setting and walking photography tour gave us some amazing shots of the architecture and unique angles of a variety of places in Tokyo. I would have never thought of spending time in Tokyo taking pictures from such a unique angle but my oh my are our pictures amazing! Lukasz makes this entire experience memorable. You seriously have to put one of his photography tours at the very top of your list to do. Tokyo is a walk around city in various neighborhoods and this tour does it all. He is also the type of person you just want to pack up with you and take him every where with you in Japan to capture your sights. Your pictures will make you fall in love all over again with Japan. Sign up now if you are going to Tokyo.

  56. abouroncle

Definitively a very nice idea, giving photography lessons in Tokyo is an excellent idea. This city has one of the best architectures I have seen, everything is quite new, I have been told that old buildings have to be rebuilt after a proper period of time. The tour passes by two corporate area and you will be given the opportunity to catch the Shinkansen in between the buildings, people moving in the metro, get the best from architecture details and some additional frames. It is better if you take at list a semi-professional camera, nevertheless a good cell phone is accepted to go on this ride.

  57. samirmishra

Lukas was a great instructor, he took time explaining me and my sister the basics and also some very enlightening advanced photography principles. Apart for the great photo walk, is an all around great gay, he went out of his way to helped us with our JR pass. I do the Metropolis Tour next time.

  58. Bianca V

Had such a great photo walk with Lukas through the amazing buildings of modern Tokyo, with some useful tricks about angles, perspective, speed, aperture…Highly recommended!

  59. Moonhwan Y

It was the great photography tour. My guideI forgot his name. Sorry gave us the best spot for capturing another face of Tokyo and how to photo those things with his different eyes. I had the wonderful time to learn how to see the buildings and architecture in the modern metropolitan area of Tokyo whthin such few hours.

  60. Scott H

My 18yo son and I toured Japan for his 18th birthday. He is an avid photographer just beginning his photography experience. We did the Tokyo Metropolis and Inari After Dusk Tours. Both tours were fantastic. Lukas and Axel could not have been more helpful, informative, experienced and patient. They took us to places we would not have seen on our own. They demonstrated techniques that we would not have learned with out a formal photography education. I can not rate this tour company, these gentlemen, or the experience high enough. 10 out of 5 stars!!!

  61. Thedoubledee

I had my photographer eye opened to w whole new way of looking at the world and what a better place than Tokyo. Reflections, unusual people angles, great ideas to make the story telling by photo so much more interesting. A great tour by a great guide

  62. TG119

I initially had only booked to do the Tokyo Architecture tour, however I enjoyed that so much that I promptly booked another 2 tours in Tokyo and 1 in Kyoto. I am a fairly new photographer and have learned so much through these workshops, especially in regards to street photography. Lukas is an excellent teacher and guide. Don’t hesitate to book any of EyExplore’s tours. I’ve now done 4 of them and they were all equally amazing.

  63. vicki R

I started with the Metropolis tour and got some great shots with Lukas help. He made it fun and I learnt so much about camera and composition of shots. I had so much fun I did the night tour too, also fantastic! I’ve now got more confidence photographing people as we did a little street photos too. Thanks Lukas 🙂

  64. Donna P

This was a really great tour! A very small group so you get a lot of helpful personal time with the photographer. Lukas was ours and I learned a huge amount about taking the shots, what to look for, and how to use different functions and settings on my camera. I’d definitely recommend this tour.

  65. Dina S

This tour was excellent! Stephane was the tour guide, and his enthusiasm for Tokyo and for photography showed. He answered every question asked with a detailed explanation. He went above and beyond showing us photography techniques, checking our photos and discussing how to best capture a story or mood. I learned so much about photography and got to see Tokyo from a very different perspective. The pictures I took the next day in Tokyo were more interesting as a result of this tour.

  66. wherecanibe

Lukas was a great guide on the Tokyo night time photo tour. The locations were fantastic – a nice mix of modern architecture and grittier street scenes. Lukas offered helpful composition tips that really advanced my photos – and tips I can continue using in the future.

  67. sebastianthecrab

I don’t normally write reviews but this was one of my highlights in my three weeks in Japan. I signed up for the Tokyo Metropolis course. Having only bought my camera a short while before I was utterly clueless but Lukasz was really great, and showed me how to use some of the basic functions of the camera and some great shots of Tokyo. It was great fun, really informative and my photographs for the rest of the trip were greatly improved as a result! Wish I could have done more of these courses whilst in Japan!

  68. Drewpw

I did the evening Tokyo Metro tour with Stephane, and it was nothing short of amazing. The location that we shot in was straight out of “Blade Runner” and really highlighted a part of Tokyo that was both authentic as well as really dramatic at night. Stephane has a great way of showing you angles and shots that aren’t obvious but make for amazing images. He’s a great street photographer, and his style makes it really easy to start thinking like one. If you’re a beginner or know you’re way around your camera, the tour will make for a great way to see the city AND get some really nice images of a fabulous city.

  69. Wanderluster320

I booked myself in for 2 tours on a recent trip, Tokyo by Night and Tokyo Metropolis. I was lucky enough to have Stephane as my guide on both tours which was great and very helpful. Both tours introduced a different perspective of Tokyo, one by night and the other one by day turning into night. For an amateur photographer, I learnt so much about my camera and different techniques across the 2 tours that I was able to put the tips and tools into practice for the rest of my trip. Stephane was very knowledgable, friendly and full of information for budding photographers to-be. Had so much fun and thoroughly enjoyed the experience, would definitely recommend it if you have the time. It was worth the money spent, the only regret was that the tour didn’t go for longer!

  70. Jack C

Highly professional tour with someone who both knows his craft and Tokyo. Lukasz is an excellent teacher and offers constructive and practical advice. I learned a lot.

  71. Harry

Did a photography adventure (Tokyo Metropolis) with Lukasz from @eyexploretokyo . Wandering the backstreets of Tokyo was a wonderful way to practice photography. Lukasz gave me valuable tips on composition, exposure & other various photography tips. If you happen to be in Tokyo, do check them out!

  72. Harry B

I chose to do a Tokyo Metropolis photo adventure. It was supposed to be a group photo adventure but I was the only one that booked on that day. It was like a private class with Lukasz. It was a mixture of architecture photo shoot, street photography and night photography. Lukasz gave me valuable tips on composition, exposure and other photography tips. If you happen to be in Tokyo, do check EYExplore, it’s a wonderful way to sharpen your photography skills!

  73. Kwun-Phite L

I decided to take a photo class to explore Tokyo and to improve on my street photography and boy was this well worth it! I did the class with Stephane, and he was amazing. He was very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. I’ve taken some photography classes before and the instructors were usually more concerned with taking their own photos rather helping out. Stephane however, would always check up on me and we would review our shots and see what I could have improved upon. He really helped with improving my composition and telling me to get closer to my subjects. Overall I am very happy with the experience and would recommend this class to anyone. I have learned a lot and hope to take more classes when I come to Tokyo

  74. Mark P

I took the Tokyo Metropolis Tour with Axel. He’s a knowledgeable, creative and passionate teacher who helped me to see more creatively. The tour is a chance to experience day to day Tokyo and create photos that go beyond the typical tourist spots. Great value and experience!! Next time I’m in Tokyo I’ll be scheduling another tour.

It was a very memorable experience and the guides were very knowledgable in both local history and photography. I’m a beginner and I felt that I’ve learnt a lot from this tour. I only brought along a compact digital camera and yet I’m able to take some really nice shots just using that. Highly recommended for travelers who like to explore street photography as well as visiting unique architecture in Tokyo.

I did this photo tour with Stephan an I thoroughlly enjoyed it. Stephan who is French National really have a great sense of artistic photo and a special ability to teach an transmit his knowledge and his vision of photography. I really learned a lot during this tour and I certainly recommend it for passionate photographers. I regret I could not make it for the Sunday photo tour but it gives me a good reason to come back. This excursion is a great value for money and certainly worth doing it. I shoot with Canon MkIII and Zeiss lenses and started photography when I was 5. I give a 5/5 to Stephan and the local tour operator , thanks for your generosity. Kind regards, Olivier Larcher

I went on two different EYExplore Tokyo tours and they were really fun. I learned a lot from both guides and it was great to meet and explore with other photo enthusiast. My photography has definitely improved as a result. Well worth the price and it was the perfect way to spend a couple of nights in Tokyo.
