Who I am

I'm a recreational street photographer based in Osaka who took up this genre in 2021. I use an OM1 Mark 2 together with Leica DG prime lenses. Originally, I come from New Zealand and have been in Japan for almost ten years. My style is layered, noir or cinematic compositions that present an alternative view of street Japan.

What I do at EYExplore

I run a night street photography workshop in Osaka.

Where I explore

Being based in Osaka I tend to shoot mostly around Namba, Tsuruhashi, Tennoji, and occasionally try out Umeda or even take a trip to Kyoto or Kobe to mix it up. These locations, like all Japanese cities, provide endless street photography moments with their color, contrast, and unique scenes.

Why I love photography

I got into street photography some years ago as a way to explore my city, get some exercise, and discover cool locales I’d otherwise not find. I also enjoy hanging out with other street photographers and in the process develop my own photographic style. And there is something exhilarating about capturing unique moments.
