Taken on Tokyo by Night

Read on for more details about how this shot was taken.

1. How did you capture this image? What gear/settings did you use?

As an introvert, street portraits are a challenge for me. But as I was walking through the street, this guy saw my camera and was engaging. I took a few shots with my Nikon D750, Nikkor 24-70mm. I used Aperture priority and captured this image at ISO 2200, 38mm, f2.8, shutter speed 1/250.

2. Where are you from?

I was born and raised in a small town in the western area of New York state in the USA. My husband has a job which affords us the opportunity to live in many amazing places including Virginia Beach, Virginia, Tampa, Florida, Belgium, and now in Japan.

3. What is your background in photography?

I received my first digital camera about 6 years ago. But it wasn’t until a couple years ago I decided to get off automatic mode. I did a lot of self-learning and took a few classes. The more I learn, the more I realize how much I don’t know! Photography has been a great way for me to capture my family and our travels. I love shooting portraits but I am building an interest in landscape and street photography as well. I am a hobbyist but looking to move into professional photography soon.

4. Can you share your online portfolio or blog with us?

I love sharing my favorite images on Instagram.
