EYExplore has been hard at work developing new Photo Adventures in Kyoto! We also welcome a new member to the team: Alberto Rossini. Together we have revamped our existing photo workshops and created all new photographic experiences centered around parts of Kyoto that most travelers don’t typically explore. We’re very excited to share these with you, so if you are planning an upcoming visit to Kyoto, please consider joining our photography workshops in Kyoto!
Kyoto Street Life
Street Photography Workshop
On this street photography workshop we head to the quiet streets of Miyagawacho, a quaint enclave nestled between the crowded tourist hot-spots of Kiyomizu Temple and Gion. Here we pursue a mindful approach to street photography, taking in the area and its denizens one step at a time.
Night Streets of Kyoto
Night Street Photography Workshop
On this night street photography workshop we take to the dark alleys of Pontocho, as well as the surrounding commercial districts around Shijo-dori, the major thoroughfare that bisects Kyoto east to west. We focus on a style of street photography that uses contrasting light and vivid color to give a sense of neo-noir that befalls Kyoto when the sun goes down.
Kyoto Zen Temples
Mindfulness Photography Workshop
A reworking of one of our Kyoto classics, this photography workshops begins in Nanzenji and follows The Philosopher’s Path winding its way through the eastern expanses of Kyoto. We focus on details and textures in the confines of zen temples and gardens, but we also seek decisive moments in the street photography spirit. Whether it be zen monks or kimono-clad locals and travelers alike, we aim to capture them in the meditative settings of the area.
Mystic Paths of Kyoto
Fushimi Inari Adventure Photography Workshop
On this photography workshop we ditch the tourists and explore a seemingly secret path winding its way around Mount Inari. Along they way we will discover crumbling Inari shrines of all shapes and sizes, their iconic torii gates and fox status covered in moss. Our goal on this workshop is to capture the mystical and spiritual mood that envelopes these hallowed grounds. The images we create on this photo workshop will look like something out of a Studio Ghibli film.
Kyoto Omakase Photo Adventure
Custom Street Photography Workshop
Our Omakase Street Photo Adventure has been a huge hit in Tokyo, so we are bringing the same concept to Kyoto (and eventually Osaka too). In Japanese ‘omakase’ means ‘to entrust.’ So, on this custom photography workshop you let your instructor take the lead and show you their favorite locations and subjects to shoot in Kyoto. Think of it as the “chef’s special” of photography workshops.
Kyoto Bespoke Photo Adventure
Custom Photography Workshop
If all those photography workshops sounds great to you but you can’t decide which one is best, then we recommend booking a Bespoke Photo Adventure, a custom photography workshop that is a remix of our more specialized photo tours. Just know which photographic subjects interest you most and we will do our best to create a customer 5-hour session that caters exactly to your interests.
Osaka Bespoke Photo Adventure
Custom Photography Workshop
So far we’ve worked hard to expand our Photo Adventures in Kyoto, but we are also bringing more workshops to Osaka. For now, the Osaka Bespoke Photo Adventure is available just like in Tokyo and Kyoto, but more will come in the coming months. Stay tuned!
